We serve quality locally sourced food cooked freshly on our premises. We pride ourselved on our friendly, intimate atmosphere ideal for dinner for two or your celebration party.

We specialise in catering for private parties of up to 24 people allowing you to enjoy your celebration without any stress. Our menus are designed around your individual requirements. Our restaurant is available for parties during the day or evening.

    We revisited this restaurant as last time we ate at basils we had a most enjoyable meal. The restaurant is cosy, the food is well prepared and tasty,and the service was attentive without being intrusive. The owner (Lindsay) was very hospitable we will certainly return.

  • Amazing value!


    I dropped in, was warmly greeted. The restaurant is charming, nicely decorated and clean. As a veggie I was delighted to find several options. The portions were not only tasty but extremely generous. Basils is another Ilfracombe gem.

  • Simply the best


    Popped in after seeing my grandchildren for the first time. The service was excellent - a lady who really wanted us to feel at home. The menu had something for everybody - meat, fish, vegetarian. The food was truly excellent - a Devonian slant on old favourites (the mussels and Lamb were divine). The wine selection was interesting and varied - including a white wine from Devon (a real "in-your-face" job - excellent). AND - we met Basil!! A truly lovely old-ish black Labrador. It really doesn't get better than this unless you are looking for haute cuisine and even then I would rate Basil's very highly. We were there in mid/late October. The restaurant is quite small so can imagine it would be a very good idea to book at busy times.
